Description: |
Windrider 17 is a fast daysailer trimaran, designed by Jim Brown, that is so stable it is classified as nearly uncapsizable. We chose this boat precisely because it is easy to sail for beginners and yet experienced sailors use it to go on multi-day trekking expeditions and/or racing. It doesnt require a center keel, and with a draft of only 18, it opens up the possibility to explore many locations that sailboats often cant explore. It has been fun for our family, but we are selling to purchase a new type of toy!
The WR17 comes with foot-steering from the rear cockpit, leaving your hands free to handle the main sheet and furling jib. There is also a large center cockpit and plenty of storage throughout. We primarily went out with our family (2 adults, 2 kids), but we have had 4 adults on the boat comfortably, and even up to 6 people on the boat with primarily kids (but that does start to get crowded).
In addition to being fast, stable, fun for the family as well as adventurous for the more daring types, the WR17 is also very durable, constructed of rotomolded polyethylene, and with simple rigging that doesnt allow for much to go wrong. Very low maintenance, leaving more time for you to enjoy and/or make modifications per your objectives.
This 17-foot trimaran is well-kept, only 3.5 years old, and kept in mast-up storage at the Sarasota Sailing Squadron when not sailed. It has been at the same location since purchase anew, and kept meticulously maintained as part of the onsite requirements. |
