35 FOOT CLASSIC SAILBOAT A CARL ALBERG BEAUTY
Querida is a uniquely upgraded Alberg-35 sloop. If you want a boat that will make your heart sing as you look back at her from your dinghy this is it. Alberg is known for his lovely safe and strong CCA designs. The current owner, an artist and marine craftsman, has owned the boat for 25 years. (He was part of the crew that built Doug Petersons NY 40 for the NYYC in the 70s). With that experience and many custom adaptations Querida is a comfortable, safe and eye-catching offshore sailboat with the touches an artists hand has brought forth. The current owner and first mate have cruised coastal California and northern Mexico and have lovingly refit and added features over the years. Below is a Detailed Equipment List for Querida.
The hard dodger is actually a custom dinghy built from strong surfboard fiber-glass with a removable transom. Its light for the size, rows well and can handle up to a 4hp light outboard.
A bowsprit/anchor roller was custom built to move the headstay and furler forward 18 inches. With the center of effort moved forward the helm is easily balanced. A bobstay and two whisker stays carry that load. With the current sails, beam reaching in 10-15 kts, making 7-8 kts is not uncommon. In addition, she comfortably handled all weather conditions encountered over the last 25 years.
Querida has been upgraded with custom heavy wall stanchions internally reinforced with 316L stainless pipe, spaced at 5 feet. Adding a heavy wall bow pulpit and stern rail maintains the secure double lifeline height at 29 while providing extra safety and comfort. The 8 radar pole is 1 1⁄2 stainless steel and the boom gallows is stainless tubing and laminated Ipe hardwood.
The stock Alberg deadlights were removed, cabin-sides glassed, painted, new openings cut and New Found Metals opening portlights were installed. This was a wonderful addition in adding light and getting air belowdecks.
