Amphitrites are blue-water cruising vessels. I bought it in ST Lucia West Indies, sailed to the United States where it underwent a 5 month refit. nearly all of the wiring had to be replaced due to the previous owners indiscretion with wiring safety!
This is a very comfortable blue water sailing vessel with a reputation and ownership pedigree that can be found in groups on social media outlets such as Facebook.
Wauquiez, pronounced Vo-ke-yeah are still built today. Having sailed 2500 miles from the West Indies I can tell you this boat sails well and will take care of you in a blow. I was in 40 knt winds for 36 hours off Cuba in the Gulf stream and the boat took care of us. The center cockpit design has a built in hard dodger that will keep you dry at sea.
This is a Mark II boat meaning the second model, what this really means is the aft master cabin it both roomy and comfortable (see pictures) because the sail locker was moved to the starboard midships.
Amphitrite's were built in France at a factory when boatbuilders still hand laid fiberglass rather than applying "chopped strands" through a gun. This means the boat was built to last. The hull is over 32 mm thick in the forefoot and bow areas.
The hull design is a cut-away forefoot keel with skeg hung rudder. This means the boat does not slap while sailing to weather. This also signals the boat can move through the water well. Henri Wauquiez speed and managed to balance comfort with reasonable speed in this hull design. With the new Cummins engine and 17 inch feathering prop it will sail a 7 knots very easily, it will reach hull speed of 8.1 breathlessly under 22 apparent beam reaches mildly loaded.
Let's talk cargo, I have the boat loaded with 6 months provisions, parts and tools and yes its a knot slower but fully self-contained off grid.
1400 watts of solar and 400 watts of wind combine for a whopping 1.8 kW of power generation, with and additional 160 Balmar High output alternator on the engine.
