14' Great South Bay Duck Hunting Sailboat

One Owner, Custom Built, Historic, Premier 1-2 Man Duck Marsh/River/Bay/Coastal Marsh/Ocean Hunting Sail Boat.

Built by Great South Bay Boats of Babylon, Long Island, NY in 1971 when I was the USFWS US Game Management Agent in New York City.

As a sail boat it is safe, swift and fun.

When underway with power - with a proper forward weight shift of one or two occupants and careful control of the outboard engine - it can move surprisingly swiftly when necessary.

These factors are due in large measure to the teaspoon design of the hull, 3 airtight sections for flotation and the wind avoidance qualities of the deck that give it and its occupants an impervious reaction to weather waves or shallow waters.

I have never had any leaks in this boat.

I have towed other boats and been towed once due to outboard issues but the boat plus its cleats and their locations towed well.

Anchoring can hold the boat at any heading in 360 degrees, again due to cleat locations.

This Great South Bay Boat is sold as a package that includes - A 5 hp Briggs and Stratton Outboard engine with Manual.

I used a 7 1/2 Evinrude for decades before moving to Minnesota 14 years ago.

A 3,000 lb GVW, Venture boat trailer 12 years old in excellent condition with a never-used spare tire.

A Sunfish Sail with Mast, Upper Lower Booms, Rigging, Bridles 2, cleats, and shackles necessary for sailing.

A Daggerboard for sailing.

A Tiller and Rudder with hardware connections on the boat transom for sailing.

A 5 to 8 foot adjustable kayak paddle.

A 7 to 11- foot adjustable push pole.

One wooden oar, two canoe paddles and two life preservers.

A Camo-net cover for the outboard, a fiberglass hatch cover, an anchor complete with line, float, chain, a 5-foot landing net for bird retrieval and a canvas spray shield.

Two Plastic Seats.

Two Folding Cushion Seats plus 2 stakes for stability close to shore, 2 sponges and two homemade bailers.

Running Lights, An Emergency Line Throw Bag and Three Emergency Flares.

The following Decoys with lines anchors 4 Black Ducks, 1 Black Duck Feeder Good Shape. 27 Magnum Scaup, i.e., Bluebills Good Shape. 21 life-size Scaup Need repainting. 4 Wood Ducks Excellent Shape. 4 Green Winged Teal Excellent Shape. 12 Blue-Winged Teal Excellent Shape. 10 Mallards plus 2 Feeder mallards and 1 Feeder Pintail Excellent Shape Plus two dull brown nylon decoy bags to carry extra decoys and help to dull the outline of the boat while hunting.

I never took any of the sail, mast, daggerboard, boom and rigging but they are all in very good condition.
