The Cal 36 has been well maintained by me for 17 yrs. The sails main and Genoa are 4 yrs old ,in excellent shape. The rigging is new. The topsides were painted last year with 4 coats of epoxy. The cabin top was replaced, due to some soft spots around the mast step, with 1/2"marine mahogany plywood and 16 layers of woven roven and bi axle cloth, saturated in epoxy resin. The decks are sound. The portholes are sound, but could be replaced. The engine is a Yanmar FWC 30 hp.diesel. I had it rebuilt and it now has about 400 hrs. There is wheel steering, with an emergency tiller. The bottom has about2 coats of ablative paint. Down below is comfortable with new sunbrella cushion covers. There is only cold pressurized water. I do have a hot water tank to install. There is a manual head with holding tank. There is no stove. I do have a propane box,to be installed. The instruments are Raymarine depth and wind. She does not have all the bells and whistles, that folks are looking for. She is a solid ,well built "classic plastic", Bill Lapworth design. She is the "Little Sister" to the Cal 40. With a little money, she could be a great cruising vessel. Her cockpit seats 6-8 adults. Emma Rose likes lots of wind and moves right along. Under power she steams at 7.3 knts. I have used her for pleasure and day charters for 18yrs,this is why she lacks all the bells and whistles. |
