This is a great sailboat for our inland lakes - easy to sail and able to go close to shore for family fun. The swing keel allows for easy transition from sail to landing in less than 3 feet of water.
Shrimp is a 1986 Macgregor 22. She is about 1800lbs with a 500lb swing keel. This means that she is easy to trailer but sails better than a water-ballast boat. Draft is less than 2ft with keel up and 5.5ft with keel down, perfect for inland lake sailing and shallow waters at the sandbar. Though she kept her on a mooring for the past 3 seasons she is easy to trailer sail and takes 2 people 45-60min to rig and launch. This is a great boat for new sailers or even experienced sailers looking for a smaller keelboat. All lines run to cockpit for easy single-handed sailing. She looks a little dirty at haul out time but a good power-washing gets the hull nice and clean for the next season.
