These boats are a great family weekender design with full length sleeping berths for five adults, cooking area, sink and a separate head. Excellent use of space. This is the faster version with dagger boards. Her accommodations surpass any boat of her size, while retaining the functionality to be easily trailered and stored out of water. There is 6 of headroom in both hulls and sitting headroom in the bridge deck salon (which converts into a double berth). The dual companionways prevent traffic jams. It is a motor sailor with a light weight brand new Toshiba 20 HP, electric tilt and start, with dashboard steering (can be disconnected in a second for sailing).
She outperforms most monohulls and some multihulls on nearly all points of sail and points exceptionally well, due to her daggerboard design. I can match speed and pointing of a local, new, $1 million touring catamaran in all weather conditions. She is easy to solo sail with a logical layout for the running rigging. She has been kept on a trailer or lift not needing any bottom paint.
This Hirondelle is different and better than all the rest because I have upgraded the weakest points of the boat, completing high quality structural engineered upgrades such as: 1-High strength aluminum rudder pockets with the rudder pins upgraded to heavy duty refrigerator pins. 2-High strength aluminum rudders 3-High strength dagger boards made of Coosa board 4- Fiber glassed in place, backer plates for all of the above 5- All attachment points/holes have been moved up above the water line. 6-Custom bracket on mast for boom gin pole 7-2024 Tohmatsu 20hp 4-cycle long shaft, high thrust prop with electric start/tilt and alternator. Relocated to stern for more cockpit room. |
