Dj vu is a custom racer built by Mark Lindsay and Boston Boat Works. Designed by the legendary Jim Taylor, Dj Vus design was per the advancement of the IMS rule (ORC). The project was focused on optimizing light air performance on the one hand and a solid breeze with a big chop on the other. This resulted in less displacement for the sailing length, and more sail area for the displacement.
The methodical was to construct a boat with weight control as its highest priority, and components were individually weighed before they were molded. In order to achieve this, the hull was constructed with Kevlar and S-Glass composite skins over a core cell foam core. While the densities varied to suit local loading, significant portions of the hull and deck were reinforced to mimic the longitudinal deflections resulting from headstay, running backstay, and mast compression loads.
Today, Dj vu represents an opportunity to acquire a high-quality custom build at a discounted price for those that race in areas of light air.
While in need of some minor TLC due to its inactive use for eight (8) years, the structure, mechanicals, and equipment are serviceable. A recent survey (Nov 2024) found the vessel in fantastic shape and valued higher than the asking price.
The seller is motivated to see the boat sailing again. |
