1995 Gulf 32 Mark II Pilothouse Sailboat. Check Bellingham craigslist for the full listing with more pictures.
With our twins off to college, unfortunately its time to sell Sapo Verde.
This William Garden design is turn key and perfect for family coastal cruising.
A Pilot house is a must in the PNW and allows for comfortable four season cruising. We were drawn to Sapo because of the Gulf 32's beauty and reputation as both a solid sailor and good motoring vessel. We've not been disappointed with either.
Despite her weight, she sails far better than her statistics would suggest. With a relatively small beam by today's standards and a lot of ballast she heels quickly but as the wind builds you'll only pick up speed and momentum. She will safely handle more wind and waves than you'll ever want to be in.
She may not be a racer, but her sea keeping ability has not let us down. She has a mid boom traveler arrangement that clears the cockpit of lines, all led aft for ease of single handing.
PNW summers have plenty of calm weather, and a lot of current and unexpected eddies. The recently rebuilt 38 hp Yanmar diesel fires up reliably, has plenty of power when needed and economically gets you where you need to go cruising at 5-6 knots.
Sapo is one of the very last of over 400 Gulf 32s built. The unique Mark II layout features the salon / dinette in the pilot house and the galley down and further forward. We love this arrangement as it allows us to enjoy the views while relaxing in the pilothouse. It also provides a natural flow between the cockpit and interior comforts whether youre underway or enjoying an evening anchored in the islands. |
