This is an excellent yacht, well equipped for single-handed sailing. Shes fast and points high to weather, thanks to her deep fin keel. Over the past 8 years, we have invested in her so much love and money, upgrading and fixing every possible thing. Weve enjoyed countless adventures, campouts and cruises on the lake while sharing the joy of sailing with nearly 400 different guests. Catalinas of her era had a couple flaws that we have resolved: The Catalina Smile was a partial separation of the keel due to wet wood layers beneath the bilge. This was completely rebuilt with 2 inches of solid fiberglass. Also, osmotic blistering was resolved, and her bottom is now protected by a thick epoxy barrier coat.
