Description:
When S & S designed the Tartan Offshore Cruising Ketch, they created a unique cruiser that not only performs well but has accommodations like none other. One look at the spacious aft cabin will convince you that these boats are truly special.
Although she may not be commonly known by many as a Tartan classic, the Tartan Offshore Cruising Ketch represents an interesting chapter in the company's history. The TOCK first took shape on the drawing boards of Sparkman and Stephens in 1974 as design no. 2184 followed by a production run of 30 of these "Passagemakers" during 1976 and 1977.
Drawing inspiration from Irving Johnson's 1959 ketch "Yankee", the TOCK has several unique features which distinguish her among the Tartan line. Perhaps the most apparent among these is her midships cockpit and high bulwarks, but it is below that the designer's intent fully unfolds. Purposely designed as a liveaboard for couples, her layout includes a "great cabin" aft measuring a full 22 feet long by 13 feet wide spanning half the yacht's length, a fully outfitted galley with over 10 feet of counter space, a head with a separate walk-in shower, a pullman style stateroom forward opposite a second head and vanity, and a convertible vee-berth/utility area in the forepeak.
The ketch rig keeps the sails easily managed. This Sparkman & Stevens design has a long keel, lead ballast, and skeg-hung rudder for maximum stability, good tracking and maneuverability.
Mechanical & Engine Equipment
The engine room offers exceptional accessibility from both sides. The factory made a full-sized mock up before hull construction so there would be no unforeseen surprises which resulted in an excellent engine instalation.
Deck & Hull
Forward deck has a 8" high bulwark at the sheer line for safety. Aft deck is flat from shear to shear. Long fin keel and skeg-mounted rudder.
Accommodations
The Tartan TOCK offers forward and aft companionways from the center cockpit in addition to walkthrough access to starboard below decks.

This yacht was as built in 1975 and was actively cruising and upgraded. The bottom was barrier coated in 2008.
The boat was sold in 2012 for $ 56.500.
The hull was sanded down and got new gelcoat in 2012 at the cost of $ 15.200. All the windows new 2012.
The yacht was stored on the hard in 2015 do to illness of the owner.
I purchased the yacht in December 2015.
The deck hatches had small leaks and the headliner in the main cabin was damaged by water. The headliner in the main cabin has been taken down and the leaks have been stopped. The old headliners are kept as patterns to easily be able to make new headliners. One of the small bulk heads in the main cabin was also damaged and needs to be repaired.
The floor in the main cabin has some soft spots, but it is flat and a new floor ( inch teak and holly ) can be glued on top of the old floor.
With some good TLC this yacht can be put back into a high standard. The hull looks like new. The boat is stored on the hard at the 5 Star RAM Marine in Rio Dulce, Guatamala.
The RAM Marina has all repairs and services available on site at a reasonable rate.
The 80 HP Ford Lehman Diesel engine runs well and has only 3000 hours after rebuilt.
A 2006 15 HP Johnson outboard and a CARIBE Hard bottom dinghy are included.
I had plans to launch the boat and cruise the Caribeean and then back to the US, but I am sorrry to have to give up these plans due to my age and health.
The items which need to be replaced and/or repaired before launch are
3 or 4 thru hull fittings
New stuffing box
New Linear Drive for Raymarine Autopilot
Need to polish the diesel fuel, A pump is part of fhe inventory
New Haylard for Main Sail and genoa and Mizzen
