1982 C&C 40. Squalicum Harbor, Bellingham, WA.
Originally built by Barry Carroll of Carroll Marine in 1982 for offshore racing between the US and Bermuda, Elan has four Lewmar #55 3-speed cockpit winches. The boat was laid up with additional hull stringers and a beefed up rudder mount with oversized rudder blade. Kevlar was used to add strength and to reduce weight. It has a tall rig and and extra ballast shoe. Moved to the west coast and adapted for cruising with the addition of roller furling and a hard dodger. Its easy to sail strong, fast and fun with an Edson oversized wheel (55).
Re-powered in 2005 with 706 engine hours. New Seward Princess 3 burner propane stove with oven added in 2007. Autostream 3 blade feathering prop added in 2005. New cutlass bearing and prop shaft in 2024.
